Santa Cruz Island Camping
The Santa Cruz Island Camp Trip is where friends go to play in the water! The island is just over 20 miles from Ventura and is the largest of the Channel Islands, nearly 3 times the size of Manhattan with .00012254902% of the poplulation, yeah I did the math ;)
With over 30 miles of hiking trails, world class kelp forests, sandy beaches and over 60 endemic, or unique, species it's easy to get into something fun everyday of this 5 day adventure!
We kayak, fish, snorkel, freedive, spearfish, swim. We explore caves, kelp forests and beaches, and at the end of the day, we have happ hour and take sunset walks.
This is a trip the whole family can enjoy!
Recommended for ages 5 and up, swimming ability is a plus, but not necessarily required. We do spend every day in the water, however!
Each meal is coordinated and brought by the participants. Sarah and Rob might be in charge of dinner one night, and the next morning will be Peggy and Daren. You will be assinged a meal and you are responsible for only that meal!
Things we bring, so you don't have to:
Kitchen - Stove, cooking utensils, pots and pans, cutting boards, olive oil, salt and pepper, etc.
Water purifier
Kids tent
6 Kayaks
Camp lights
Things you need to bring:
Tent
Sleepwear (sleeping bag, pillow, etc)
Free Dive Gear
lifejackets (for under 12 yr old)
Personal flashlight
Your meal assignment
Lunch for your family
Coolers
The list will grow, shorten, grow again, then it will go through a "phase" where it will tell lies and listen to punk music, then it will shorten, then grow, and finally a few more things will be added to the list, just because! We do "backpack" in to the campsite .5 miles, not far, but the boat allows a certain weight maximum per person, so that's why your list will grow and get smaller:)
Please call Emily if you have any questions or doubts in your mind!
